The calculated vs. observed values are plotted on a scatter graph to indicate the match between the values calculated by the model and the values observed in the field. Model-calculated values are multiplied by weights and  plotted against corresponding observed values multiplied by weights (i.e., the same weights as used in the parameter estimation process to discriminate between observations on the basis of reliability and/or measurement units). If all of these points plot close to a straight line through zero, this is an indication of good agreement between model outputs and field measurements.
